FOREST BATHING Sunderland Library

Part of a FREE series hosted by Tilton and Sunderland Libraries at Mt. Sugarloaf this fall: FOREST BATHING: Fri 9/23, 5:30-7:30pm, Shuttle Bus leaves from Sunderland Public Library at 5:30 PM and will return to Sunderland Public Library at the end of the program. No rain date. Unplug for a few hours and take a rejuvenating stroll through the forest, led by Sunderland's Adventure East. This is a gentle and mindful outdoor experience that will allow you to connect deeply to the healing powers of nature. You will saunter along woodland trails, immersing yourself in the sights and sounds all around you, allowing you to become acquainted with life in the forest. LIMITED TO 13 PARTICIPANTS. TREE I.D. WALK Mt. Sugarloaf

WALK: Tues 9/27, 5-6pm (rain date 9/29) Sugarloaf Parking Lot Laura Beltran, Teacher/Naturalist with Mass Audubon Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary, will lead a casual walk at the base of Mt. Sugarloaf, exploring trees and changing autumn foliage. Discover tree leaves, buds, and bark as clues to identification. Learn about our forest communities, how they are changing, and what we can do to improve forest health.

Join us for a Sacred Sound Journey and Guided Meditation. Come immerse yourself in the synergy of sacred sounds and guided meditation with crystal and Tibetan bowls, rhythm of drums, gongs and more. Connect with your body and spirit, quieting the mind and explore the beauty of your inner self. Learn the science of how sound interacts with the cells of your body. Please wear warm, comfortable clothing. Bring a blanket(s) and/or pillow, yoga mat to create a cozy nest for yourself. SIGN UP: Winter Wildlife Tracking

Inclement weather date 3/11   Meet at Pocumtuck Range Trail, Pine Nook Road parking lot (behind Eaglebrook School - see link and map below), Deerfield, MA Enjoy a walk in the winter woods on the Pocumtuck Range Trail with Laura Beltran from the Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary. At one time being able to read tracks was vital for survival. Tracking is more than simply finding a trail and following it and prints aren't always necessary to track an animal. The forest is full of signs that tell us about the wildlife within.  We will discuss how animals spend the winter and learn to read the tracks and signs left by animals that live in our area. Dress in warm comfortable winter layers with footwear appropriate for walking on a trail in winter.   LIMITED TO 10 STUDENTS, PLEASE SIGN UP. Learn the iNaturalist basics like how to make and identify observations, see what others are seeing, and how observations have been used by researchers. See why the New York Times calls this "The Nicest Place Online...As civil discourse online and off increasingly proves elusive, a website devoted to identifying plants and animals may be teaching humans how to get along."

The indoor crafts circle requires registration as seats are limited. (But up to 12 are allowed as we will meet upstairs this year!) Masks are strongly recommended.
