SUMMARY:VIRTUAL TALK: Birding in Massachusetts and Beyond
DESCRIPTION:The Tilton is co-hosting this FREE Virtual program\, sponsored by The Northfield Public Library and Libraries in the Woods.\n\n\nA virtual presentation by John R. Nelson\, author of 2019 book Flight Calls: Exploring Massachusetts through Birds.\n\n\nJohn writes\, “In search of birds I’ve gone further and further afield\, first to birdy spots around Massachusetts…next cross-country to the Rio Grande and saguaro deserts\, then beyond to whole new families of birds in Belize\, Brazil\, Botswana\, Bhutan\, and Borneo….The more time I spend with birds\, the more they’ve become sources of stimulation\, not just visual treats or searches rewarded. They’ve catalyzed the childlike curiosity\, one of the great blessings of being human\, that becomes dormant in so many of us.”\n\n\n\n\nEmail dmemlib@gmail.com to register for this Zoom program.\n\n

SUMMARY:VIRTUAL THIRD THURSDAY BOOK GROUP: This Is How It Always Is by Laurie Frankel
DESCRIPTION:When Rosie and Penn and their four boys welcome the newest member of their family\, no one is surprised it’s another baby boy. At least their large\, loving\, chaotic family knows what to expect. But Claude is not like his brothers. One day he puts on a dress and refuses to take it off. He wants to bring a purse to kindergarten. He wants hair long enough to sit on. When he grows up\, Claude says\, he wants to be a girl. Rosie and Penn aren’t panicked at first. Kids go through phases\, after all\, and make-believe is fun. But soon the entire family is keeping Claude’s secret. Until one day it explodes.\n\nThis Is How It Always Is is a novel about revelations\, transformations\, fairy tales\, and family. And it’s about the ways this is how it always is: Change is always hard and miraculous and hard again; parenting is always a leap into the unknown with crossed fingers and full hearts; children grow but not always according to plan.\n\nPlease email the library at tiltonlibrary@cwmars.org to get the Zoom link a few days before the event.\n  \nBooks available at the Tilton – call or email for a copy to check out on your account.\n
