We have exciting news to share! Tilton Library is proud to be chosen to be part of Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities, an American Library Association initiative that provides community engagement and accessibility resources to small and rural libraries to help them better serve people with disabilities.

The competitive award comes with a $10,000 grant that will help us create a new sensory room for neurodivergent youth in our community, as part of the library expansion project.

July 2025 Update: Over the past few months we’ve met with community members, students, and professionals. These conversations focused on creating an accessible space for neurodivergent youth. Almost everyone we spoke with agreed that a calming sensory room in a public library would be very beneficial to the community. Using their input we are finalizing a purchase order for sensory equipment. When that is finished, the updated plans and interim report will be submitted for approval. Then the equipment will be purchased, shipped to the new library building, and installed in the sensory room. Stay tuned for pictures!

August 2025 Update: Sensory Equipment has been ordered from Fun & Function!
