Come spend time with the goats of Firefly Fields Farm! They provide a knowledgeable, safe, family-friendly experience that puts a smile on everyone faces. Mad Science Magnetic Magic Workshop

Registration Required, Space Limited Children learn how and why magnets behave by testing the basic physical principles governing magnetism.  They learn how to create magnets and how magnetism is lost. Children use compasses to gain a better understanding of how humans benefit from the Earth’s magnetic force.  Hands-on experimenting-from swinging compasses to motorized devices- allows children to explore the role of magnetism in our everyday lives. Dinosaurs in Deerfield; Reading the Rocks

Presented by Amherst College students. Scientists examine rocks to learn about life in the distant past. Some rocks tell us a bit about what critters may have looked liked, while other rocks give us a sense of what the critters used to do. Some of the first people to notice these special rocks once lived and worked in Deerfield many years ago. One of the earliest discoveries was made by a local teenager. Explore fossils and gems from the Rock, Fossil and Dinosaur Shop.

Flower Pounding Workshop

SIGN UP:  LIMITED TO 12 PEOPLE 413-665-4683   Join us for this hands-on workshop and learn an ancient method of preserving flowers & leaves that takes little time and minimal tools. Create a design on fabric and personalized stationery with flowers & foliage. Be prepared to pound! Bring a hammer with a flat head, a terry cloth work towel, and a few blooms from your garden.
