Art Auction Closing Celebration

Original art by local artists!  This is our last chance to bid this year's art auction items.  All art will be at table level for  close examination.  The party starts at 6 and the last bids will be at 7.  Refreshments and free and open to all.  A Friends of Tilton Library fund raising event. Art at Tilton – Tony Faith

“I grew up traveling with my family. We lived in places as diverse as the Rocky Mountains, rural southern farming and fishing villages, and northern college towns. Exploring new places and meeting people from different backgrounds always excited me. Working with glass has introduced me to a community of diverse individuals and opportunity for travel.” Tony Faith lives with his wife, Cynthia, in the Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts.  He earned a BFA cum laude from UMASS, Amherst in 2001. His interest in glass art began in 1997 as a freshman in college with an independent study at Lunt Silversmiths in Greenfield, MA.  After finishing school Tony worked for the glass artists Josh Simpson, Jenn Violette and Robert Dane. For the last ten years Tony has worked for Ed Branson in Ashfield, MA. Tony has studied at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts with Jose’ Chardiet and Jack Wax and at Pilchuck Glass School with Robbie Miller and John Drury. Tony has also taught classes at Snow Farm School for Crafts. Currently Tony sells his glass art at local galleries and regional craft shows. Meet Tony on Friday mornings at Tilton Library!

English Conversation Group

Do you want to practice your English? Come to a conversation group at Tilton Library on Mondays at 6:30 (New time! 15 minutes earlier). Facilitated by Michael Pollitt and organized by the Center for New Americans this program is free and open to all.

Friends of Tilton Library Annual Meeting

The agenda for the annual meeting of the Friends of Tilton Library, Inc. includes election of officers and pie.  Please join us. Friends of Tilton Library, Inc. is a separate 501(c)3 membership organization and is open to anyone who wants to join. The Friends mission is to encourage and promote the enrichment and use of the library and to foster support for the library in the community. For people who want to show their support and appreciation of Tilton Library, being a Friend is the first step. Annual dues continue to be $15 per year and if necessary, you can contribute your time in lieu of dues. Come check us out at our monthly meetings at the library.

Tilton Library Board of Trustees Meeting

The Board of Trustees are an elected town body which is entrusted with overseeing, maintaining and planning the future for the most democratic of all our public institutions, the public library. Library Board members are responsible for working with other board members to oversee the library, establishing policy and plans, determining the final budget and conducting public relations. The powers and duties of trustees are covered in Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 78, section 10-13. Meeting agenda is posted at Deerfield Town Hall at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting

Mystery Book Discussion – A Beautiful Place to Die by Malla Nunn

Join us on the first Monday of the month for a lively discussion of this month’s title and other of life’s mysteries. Copies of the book are usually available at the circulation desk or can be reserved online or by asking at the desk. This discussion also features cheese pizza while it lasts. Free and open to all.

Henna Art – Connecting Reading, Culture & Art

Henna artist Sara Root Simone will paint a design for you in four sessions in this open house style event for kids, teens and adults.  We'll talk about "Henna House" by Nomi Eve (adults); "Secrets of a Henna Girl" by Sufiya Ahmed (teens); and "Hanna the Henna Helper" by Klaire Pearson (kids).  Sign up at either circulation desk for this free event sponsored by the Friends of Tilton Library.

Cook the Books!

Now forming - new quarterly program featuring a different cookbook.  Here's how it works: 1. Sign up at either circulation desk 2. Borrow the featured book - Mark Bittman's "How to Cook Everything Fast",  and choose a recipe to make for serving on November 16th at the library 3.  Bring your creation, a serving utensil (if needed) a plate, fork and knife (for your use)   We'll share the food and critique the recipe.
