2 HEALTHY PRACTICES THAT GO HAND IN HAND FOR HEALTHY COMMUNITIES:
- TREAT YOURSELF
- GET OUT OF YOURSELF
In 2025 (and beyond) the Tilton library will host programs – live in-person, online, and in takeaway packets – and offer books to address what we’re calling the Tilton Healthy Community Series. This series will feature a range of topics to help with better self-care and better care of others in our community. We are calling these two types of care “Treat Yourself” and “Get Out of Yourself” and believe that these two practices are mutually beneficial.
The kickoff of this series comes in the form of a Volunteering in Your Community Packet, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. and the National Day of Service (January 20) in his name. This packet will be in pdf format to print – or use online with links – to local organizations that are looking for volunteer help.
You can also look forward to classes on topics like sound bathing, mindfulness/yoga, and affordable delicious healthy eating to help you launch or maintain your way of giving back. Programs, materials, and events will happen year round and expand once we move into our expanded library building this summer.
Another reason for staring this series in January is that many people suffer from seasonal depression and participating in these types of activities can help alleviate those feelings.
The bottom line is that our library wants to help people help themselves and others so we can all thrive.
